The Advanced Training Institute for Electronics and Process Instrumentation was setup in the year 1974 by Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET) under Ministry of Labour, Government of India with the assistance of ILO/Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) to cater to the needs of the industries for training and developing their manpower in the field of Electronics and Process Instrumentation. This institute is situated on the sprawling 20 acres of land near Doordarshan Kendra Studio, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad.

ATI-EPI training labs are equipped with state of the art machines in PLC, Industrial Electronics, Microcontroller, Measuring Instruments, Process Instruments, Thermal Optical Instruments, Medical Electronics, Consumer Electronics, Electrical and Information Technology at par with any premier institute in the country including hostel facilities for outstation candidates. The institute is also equipped with modern audio/visual aids like LCD Projectors, Interactive Graphic Boards and with modern air-conditioned class rooms and library.

The institute is offering both short term and long term courses in the above field with well qualified faculty members who have been trained in India and abroad. Its indomitable committment to quality of training is reflected in its excellent short term and tailor made programs, in house and off-campus courses and placement track record. This institute is conducting number of tailor made programs for HAL, DRDO, Naval Dockyard; Mumbai & Visag, Ship Building Center; Visag, HMT; Hyderabad, Midhani and other private organisations such as Air Liquid Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. and St. Anns College etc. This institute is also having Media Resource Center (MRC) to train the instructors of State Directorate of Employment & Training in Modern training techniques and use of Audio/Visual Aids. Number of Hi-Tech programs are being conducted in the field of Medical Electronics, Micro-controller, PLC, DCS, Fiber Optic Communication to match with the training demand in fast changing scenario.

Due to increased demand for multi skilled work force and as desired by Prime Minister of India, DGET has chalked out a plan to upgrade existing 1896 Goverment ITIs in India as Centers of Excellence (COE) in various sectors with assistance from World Bank under Vocational Training Improvement Project. This institute has been entrusted with Instrumentation Sector to train the CoE Instructors. Accordingly infrastructure of this institute has been upgraded and Center of Excellence courses are being conducted.

Apart from conducting technical courses, the institute has spread its wings to conduct training programs in Human Resource Development as behavoiural training is equally important to job skill for overall development of staff in leading a productive work life as well as good personal life which will be beneficial to the organisation and individual.

Keeping in view the requirement, this institute has now introduced number of new technical training programs as well as management courses in the training calendar for the year 2009-10.
